PCB Assembly FAQ

What information is required for a turnkey PCB assembly order?

For turnkey projects, we’ll need the following: Bill of materials (BOM) Component placement list (CPL) All relevant CAD and ODB++ data (later in the process)

Which files do you accept for PCBA production?

Our team can read Gerber files, as well as AutoCAD, Multisim, and ViewMate.

How does a printed circuit board assembly (PCB assembly) work?

A circuit board assembler prepares printed circuit boards (PCBs) by soldering electronic components onto them. Reading wiring diagrams, following sample boards, selecting electrical components, and finishing the boards with hand tools are all part of this job.

WHAT DOES A PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD ASSEMBLER DO?

A circuit board assembler prepares printed circuit boards (PCBs) by soldering electronic components onto them. Reading wiring diagrams, following sample boards, selecting electrical components, and finishing the boards with hand tools are all part of this job.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PCB AND PWB?

A printed circuit board (PCB) refers to a fully assembled board that contains all the necessary circuitry to go into an electronic device, whereas a printed wiring board (PWB) is devoid of components and is used in electronics that do not require complex functionality.

On turn-key jobs, what does Fast turnpcb do about part crossing or substitutions?

First of all, we check your Bill of Materials (BOM), and send you the list of what we suggest to be substituted by local China parts to save cost for you. And we will send you the datasheets of those substitutions for you to check and verify. We will use it after get your approval.

How do you ensure your quality?

Our high quality standard is achieved with the following:
All manufacturing procedures are rigorously controlled in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and IPC-A-600/IPC-A-610 standards.
State-of-art testing equipments and tools. E.g. Flying Probe, AOI (Automated Optical Inspector), X-ray Inspection and ICT (in-circuit testing).
Highly experienced quality assurance team dedicated to failure case investigation
Education and training for the personnel on an ongoing basis.

When a turn-key order is completed, what happens to any unused components?

Either we can ship those spare parts with your completed order so that you have access to them for troubleshooting and repairs, or we can keep your leftover parts in our inventory for your next orders if you think these parts will be used again. You can choose either option.

What information do I need to give for a turn-key order?

1. BOM( bill of materials) in excel format, contains the following information: Designators, Quantity, Part Number, Package, Description, etc.
2. Gerber Files
3. Centroid Data (AKA Pick and Place or XY-Coordinate Data)
4. Images, other specifications, or assembly and testing instructions, etc.

What is Centroid data?

Centroid data (AI, Pick-and-place or XY data) - This is the machine file, which should include: X, Y, Side of Board (Top or Bottom), and Reference Designator. It is used by our Automated PCB Assembly machines to determine where each part should be located on the board. Reminder: please set the unit to mm and set the origin point to the bottom left of the design.

What type of payment& payment terms do you accept?

We accept Paypal (for small amount), Western Union and wire transfer. For payment below 3000USD, we prefer full prepayment when order placed. For payment above 3000usd, we accept 50%-60% prepayment when order placed, and the balance should be paid on delivery.

Can you offer engineering support to our technical department?

Yes, we can give you engineering support for those problems found during assembly process. All your orders will be receiving a free engineering file review service from our trained and professional technicians.

What kinds of file format do you need?

We can accept Gerber RS-274X, 274D, Eagle and AutoCAD’s DXF, DWG formats.
